Special Education Teacher, Manning SC

Soliant is accepting applications from Special Education Teachers who are looking to live and work near Manning, SC.

Currently two openings exist within the district:

  • Self-contained Learning Disabilities classroom

  • Self-contained classroom of students with highly involved disabilities

  • 2018-2019 school year?

  • Full-time (approximately 35 hours per week)

As an instructor in special education, daily responsibilities are described below.

  • Provide?research-based, specialized instruction to attain the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student's Individualized Education Program?(IEP).

  • Assess?student progress and determine?the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques.

  • Develop?and implement?annual IEPs?for students, taking into account:?present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and the special education and related services required to meet those goals.

  • Serve?as primary contact for the parent.

  • Schedules team meetings.

  • Conduct?special education evaluations and reevaluations.

  • Establish?appropriate standards of student conduct in the classroom, school premises or during school activities.

  • Maintain consistency in the classroom to encourage student responsibility, cooperation and mutual respect.

  • Provide?instructional direction to paraprofessional support staff: assign?activities, provide?guidance and instructional oversight.

  • Collaborate?with educational professionals and community service providers (i.e., social services, public health, healthcare providers etc.) regarding the needs of students.

  • Consult with classroom teachers regarding classroom adaptations, instructional modifications, adaptive equipment, behavior modification plans and other similar instructional interventions to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

  • Attend?training sessions, conferences, seminars, district and departmental meetings.

  • Keep?abreast of changing developments in the field of special education.

In order to work in special education classrooms, applicants must meet the requirements for a special education credential from the South Carolina Department of Education.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
